This weeks blog topic is on feedback (hence the title). This year we have been doing things a little differently, we have been grading each other on our first quarter projects. I will explain to you how it works, what I think of it, and why we should do it.
Well, first we all get a rubric, and the rubric grades us on things from b-roll to editing to duration, and a lot of other different things. We watch the video, and then discuss it with our partners and other classmates. We talk about how good the project was, and then what they need to work on, then translate that into grades. After, we add all the different 4,3,2, and 1 points up, and decide if they should get an A,B,C, or D. We tell them what they did well, and then tell them what they should work on.
Now that I told you how we give our classmates feedback, I will tell you what I think of it. I think giving our thoughts and feedback to students is great. We get to tell them what we think of their videos and how they can improve. But what I like even more is getting feedback, well, back!
We give feedback for a number of different reasons. For one, it’s so we can see what other people like and feel we need to work on. This helps a lot so we don’t make the same mistakes as we did again. Also, feedback is helpful because, we get to tell other people out opinions on their videos. My favorite thing is actually watching the other peoples videos.
And that is what I think about the new feedback process.
