Hey guys! As you can see, my blog is ALOT different! Something happened to Edublogs, so now I transferred on to hear! All my blogs from this year on here, so you can go back and read them! I love Weebly because there is so much more options and it is a lot easier! I can customize it a lot and use the app to write blogs on the go! You can go check out my different pages like, " Cool Gadgets" and " Mr. M's Blog!"
This weeks blog topic is on feedback (hence the title). This year we have been doing things a little differently, we have been grading each other on our first quarter projects. I will explain to you how it works, what I think of it, and why we should do it.
Well, first we all get a rubric, and the rubric grades us on things from b-roll to editing to duration, and a lot of other different things. We watch the video, and then discuss it with our partners and other classmates. We talk about how good the project was, and then what they need to work on, then translate that into grades. After, we add all the different 4,3,2, and 1 points up, and decide if they should get an A,B,C, or D. We tell them what they did well, and then tell them what they should work on. Now that I told you how we give our classmates feedback, I will tell you what I think of it. I think giving our thoughts and feedback to students is great. We get to tell them what we think of their videos and how they can improve. But what I like even more is getting feedback, well, back! We give feedback for a number of different reasons. For one, it’s so we can see what other people like and feel we need to work on. This helps a lot so we don’t make the same mistakes as we did again. Also, feedback is helpful because, we get to tell other people out opinions on their videos. My favorite thing is actually watching the other peoples videos. And that is what I think about the new feedback process. Hey! So second quarter started!! That means new radios, new projects, and a lot more! My partner and I have been getting a lot done! We have determined our topic idea and done the research, we have made phone calls, and we are in the process of scheduling interveiws! We have a lot to do, and a lot to improve. We have made mistakes in first Quater that we can definitely improve on this quater! Well, that’s all for now!
BEing in middle school, its a lot to be thinking about college. I am and 8th grader, which means i will be in high school next year. I am not going to lie, i have thought about college before, in fact I am in a college prep class called AVID ( Advanced Via Indivisual Determination). So I kind of have an advantage of setting my future. I have thought about which college I would like to go to, what I want to major in, and what I am going to do after high school, so let me tell you about it!
There are so many different colleges all around the world, but i would want to go to a college in the United States, especially in California or Seattle. Both those stated are very pleasing to me, and I have been there before many times. I did look into some college in California, and I would be interested in UCLA, or Biola University. I would like to go to UCLA because it is a very nice college, and it offered a lot of majors. Also I heard about Biola because a lot of the people I know went there, or is going there right now, in fact, one of the alumni media students from a few years back is going there right now. They offer many major options, and both colleges are very nice. Now to talk about what I want to go to college for! Before kid is asked in there life. For y self it went from being a Princess, to a cowgirl, to a flight attendant. Now that I am more mature I am looking at things from a different perspective, like the money, and the college, and vacation, etc. I am seriously considering majoring in phsycoligy, and religions now that I am older and know the difference from fantasy and reality, although it never hurt to dream big! I would like to major in these things because there is many things you can do with this credit, you could be a phsycoligist or a youth minister, or a Pro. Therapist. But in order to go to college and major, first I have to be prepared. Preparing for college is a huge mile stone in life. And being in the Avid program as I said before helps alot. They help with college essays to applications, to researching about the college. But, I deffinitally need to work on getting good grades if I want to make it in to a University. After high school I hope to go straight into college and hopefully live with family or in a rental. I have heard about dorms and seen them, and they arent that bad, but I would deffinitally prefer living off campus. College is a lot to think about in middle school, but its never too early to be thinking about the future. Well, I will keep you updated. Radios, radios, radios. Well, our radios were due this week! Radios can be one of the funniest but one of the most stressful things in media. It can be fun because we get to make our own script and record our voices to play on the radio, and we can have fun with it! And then it can be stressful because it’s a lot to get done in a short period of time. It has been easier this year though because Mr. Matsunaga has made a time tracker type chart, which is way easier to use tan k just playing it by ear!
Our fist major deadline! Well we made it!! Things we did to meet our deadline is stay on top of things, track the time, and stay focused.
I stay on top of things, you have to know what you have to do. So for my partner and I, we determined what we had to do. We knew we had to revise our scripts, and finish editing. Then, we said how we are going to do that. We had to define EXACTLY what we were going to do, and when we were going to do it, leading me to my next subject… TIME! Time is always running out, it never waits for you, so it’s your job to keep track of your time and deadlines. What Alaysia and I did was after we determined what we had to get done, we decided when we were going to do it. We mostly worked during class, at home and at the recesses. And we kept track of what we got done and so forth. But in order to stay on top of time, we had to STAY FOCUSED! We stayed focused by trying not to get destructed and by doing one thing at a time, because if we tried to do multiple things, both things would probably be not as good as they could be if we gave them our full attention. That’s all for tonight! It’s fall break so I won’t be posting for a week! Thanks for reading! Bye! |
