Its a new year, a new Semester, and a new quarter. There are so many ne years resolutions I have but I am going to tell you about my new semester goals in media! They are... trying my best, helping out, and not procrastinate!!
One of my overall goals for the whole year is not to be lazy. Laziness definitely gets in the way of trying your best because in order to do your best you have to work hard and do a lot of extra work. One of my semester goals is to try my best so its going to take effort and determination, but I know I can do it. in the end if you do try your best and work hard, you are sure to have a great finishing product. Such as trying my best on my PSA so it can go from good to great! In the media class there is always gonna be a point where you will need help with something, from editing to shooting to writing a script or filling in for someone on the morning announcements crew. Another one of my semester goals is to help out alto more in the media class. Times can get busy where you just feel so tired and don't want to do anything, but even then you have to pull through and help each other out because you never know, you might find yourself in a sticky situation in which you need help from someone. Procrastination, procrastination, procrastination. One of my very biggest habits. Its not gonna be impossible to get rid of but I definitely want to do it less. Like I could start off small like doing my blog before Sunday night (like I'm doing now). I could also go ahead and turn in my script before the due date so I can get my filming done! I really hope to come through with my goals because they could all really help me get better grades and be a better student. I will try my best and keep you posted! Mahalos! This weeks blog topic is project update!! I will tell you what we have done so far, what we are doing right now, and what we are gonna do! So it being the end of the Quater and all, we have done a lot. Obviously, we have figured out our topic, we shot all of our interviews and got our script approved!! We had to revise it a few times but, it's better to take time to make corrections than just have a sucky script and produce a sucky video. Now we are in the middle of editing! We have actually finished kind of just laying out stuff out on the timeline, but we are just perfecting it. We are also finishing up getting some last minute b-roll. We are pricing it together, and I think it's gonna come out pretty good. So what we are planning on doing is finishing adding all of our stuff and pricing the video together with voice overs, more b-roll, lower 3rds, etc. then getting it checked by Mr. M. There is always gonna be stuff we have to fix so we will try make it the best we can before the deadline. I know we are gonna make the deadline and turn out with a good video if we stay on task! I am thankful for so many things in my life, but the one thing I am thankful for a lot is living in America. I am thankful to live in a America because we have freedom of religion, freedom of speech and we can be anything we want to be. Freedom of religion is beyond the most sacred bill America has because it allows everyone to believe in whatever they want to believe in. If we were in China, we could be arrested and maybe even executed if we were caught with a bible! And in America we have a right to believe in whatever we way to and not be punished. Another reason why I am thankful to be living in America is we have freedom of speech. If we think something is not right or someone could do something better, we can speak our minds, say our opinions, and all should be really thankful for America allowing us to do so. Especially in media we have the freedom of speech because we can talk to anyone or say our opinions on some subjects. In many other contries, peoples futures are made by there parents. In America, we can be whatever we want to be. From a doctor to a photographer to a paster, you can do anything! There are so many different opportunities and options for any American out there in this country. We take many of our rights for granted every day, so I would would like to take this time to appreciate them and all we have and are blesses with. Hey everyone! I wanted to tell you guys about pen pals! Every year when we go to STN, we have pen pals from California that also goes to STN, and we meet up with them! It is super fun becuase we meet new people and get to hang out and stuff! We email eachother until STN and get to know eachother. It is cool because we also do a gift exchange!
Hey guys! As you can see, my blog is ALOT different! Something happened to Edublogs, so now I transferred on to hear! All my blogs from this year on here, so you can go back and read them! I love Weebly because there is so much more options and it is a lot easier! I can customize it a lot and use the app to write blogs on the go! You can go check out my different pages like, " Cool Gadgets" and " Mr. M's Blog!"
This weeks blog topic is on feedback (hence the title). This year we have been doing things a little differently, we have been grading each other on our first quarter projects. I will explain to you how it works, what I think of it, and why we should do it.
Well, first we all get a rubric, and the rubric grades us on things from b-roll to editing to duration, and a lot of other different things. We watch the video, and then discuss it with our partners and other classmates. We talk about how good the project was, and then what they need to work on, then translate that into grades. After, we add all the different 4,3,2, and 1 points up, and decide if they should get an A,B,C, or D. We tell them what they did well, and then tell them what they should work on. Now that I told you how we give our classmates feedback, I will tell you what I think of it. I think giving our thoughts and feedback to students is great. We get to tell them what we think of their videos and how they can improve. But what I like even more is getting feedback, well, back! We give feedback for a number of different reasons. For one, it’s so we can see what other people like and feel we need to work on. This helps a lot so we don’t make the same mistakes as we did again. Also, feedback is helpful because, we get to tell other people out opinions on their videos. My favorite thing is actually watching the other peoples videos. And that is what I think about the new feedback process. Radios, radios, radios. Well, our radios were due this week! Radios can be one of the funniest but one of the most stressful things in media. It can be fun because we get to make our own script and record our voices to play on the radio, and we can have fun with it! And then it can be stressful because it’s a lot to get done in a short period of time. It has been easier this year though because Mr. Matsunaga has made a time tracker type chart, which is way easier to use tan k just playing it by ear!
For this blog, I will tell you about my radios! First of all, in Media every group is assigned to make a set if 3 radios. Our radios are well, a segment we do every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, in FM 97 here on Kauai. We talk about what is happening in all the Kauai Schools that week. First, we do our research by looking on Websites, and Calling Schools. Then we put it in a script. After Mr. M approves our scripts, we start recording and editing the radios with Audacity. And that is pretty much our radios are!
Hey everyone! So this weeks blog topic is something I have mastered in media. I have been in the media class for three years, and I have learned ALOT! But if I have to say, the one thing I have mastered is keeping organized. I have been keeping organized with my blogs, projects, and radios.
For our blogs, we are supposed to write 2 entry’s a week and write 1 blog comment. For all of my entry’s, I categories all of my entry’s, for example, this one would be under required blogs, or blog topic because this blog was assigned. One of my others, like the “iOS 7″ blog would be under cool gadgets, for obvious reasons. I also stay really well organized with our projects. Like, when we import our footage, I like to make specific folders so if I am looking for something it is a lot easier to find. I also like to put our footage in chronological order so it’s easier. Being organized in your radios is very important because you don’t want to get any of your events messed up. From your scripts to when you are editing the radios, you want to keep it very, very organized. And that concludes what I have mastered in media, which is being organized. |
